Doing lifeguard training next week, kind of anxious…?
February 62010
So yes, I am doing a 4 day lifeguard training course next week that will be from 9 to 6 everyday, and have become quite anxious about doing it. i am on a competitive swim team, so my swimming skills are good, but i have never participated in this type of training, let alone have a job. so if any of you guys have or known someone who has gone through the standard lifeguard training course would like to enlighten me on what happens/what is taught, that would be greatly appreciated.
It’s easy, they’ll teach you everything you need to know. I bet most people there are starting at the same level as you do.
You’ll learn different rescue situations, including drowning and spinal victim, some first aid stuff (i.e. bandaging, CPR)…etc.
It’s nothing to worry about. Trust me. And I’m not even a competitive swimmer

i just did that a week ago, it wasnt bad, just very long! im not a competitive swimmer, i just swim in the summer and i did fine. they just had us swim 300 yards everyday as a warm up, then swim like 50 yards, pick up a 10lb brick and bring it back. the only thing i had trouble with was getting a dummy at the bottom of the 12ft part of the pool. just pay attention and youll pass.
