Is it too late to apply for a lifeguarding job in the middle of june??

February 62010

I’m taking the lifeguarding classes in the beginning/middle of june and i was wondering if once i get my certificate, its too late to apply for a lifeguarding job for this summer. Is July too late too?? THANKS.

I got my first lifeguarding job in early August. I didn’t turn 16 until late July, but they hired me when some of the college kids started quitting for the year to return to college.

I know where I live, even when they aren’t looking for full time guards, they’re still willing to add people to the sub list. Since lots of people go on vacation in the summer, you might be willing to pick up some hours that way.

Well first you have to go to your class and pass your class… Go to your park and recreation office and check in with them… You can always apply but you may not get a job right away… Life guarding jobs goes all year around here in mississippi…

I’m not sure why you asked if it’s too late, might be at the beach during summer season? Here in my country it’s summer all the time. And if you can’t be the lifeguard at the beach, you can also apply for lifeguard job at the swimming pool. It’s not as challenging as at open water.

usually they will keep your name as interested. when tryouts come around, you’ll be asked to attend. Depending on your rating, you’ll be hired next in line. In SoCal, it’s usually open year round so anytime should be ok especially if someone leaves.
