Lifeguards

I work really hard to make myself look good. I don’t know why I should have to be trapped in a stupid 1-piece all day. They are tight, uncomfortable, and totally unflattering. Oh, and did I mention they are STUPID. I hate seeing other girls walking around the pool in their cute little bikinis while I’m sitting there tugging at my tight one piece begging to get out. What do others think? Is this fair?

Hmms, a one-piece is suitable for lifeguards, since the fact that they are able to give you optimal support in times of rescue-ing people form the pool. You wouldn’t want people to pull down your bikini top or untie your bikini bottom in times of panic, right? hhahas (:
So, I think if you really do not one to wear a one-piece, you can reconsider getting a two-piece swimsuit, with a racer-back top, which kinda look like a sports bra, as well as a really tight bottom. (: Lol.

   Well, when you have to rescue someone that is panicked in the water and they are grabbing at you, you’ll be glad that you have the security of the 1-piece. The last thing you need to be worried about having the top pulled down while trying to rescue someone.

   If you are that worried about it, then don’t be a lifeguard.

   any pool that i have worked at the let the girls choose what they want to wear and they all go for the 2-piece suits for the reasons you stated. and i’ve worked at 4 different pools.
   but i can understand why some places wouldn’t let you because 1-piece suits dont make a habit of falling off in the kinds of situations you may find yourself in as a lifeguard.

   I assume the other girls walking around are not paid to be there, doing a job. I don’t see why they wouldn’t let you wear a "athletic" style two piece, but policy is policy. I think girls can still look great in a one piece – and I would not judge a female lifeguard harshly because she is wearing the required uniform of the jog.

   There are many answers to this question, some of which have already been mentioned.

   First and foremost, people who are really about to drown don’t give a crap about anything except staying above the water. They will grab whatever they can, including you and your suit. When you have to stop and put your breasts back in your bikini top before you start CPR, you loose a lot of style points, and quite possibly someone’s life. Seconds really do count. Lets not forget they can also grab at the bottoms, which I think would be very embarrassing, no matter how well you make yourself look.

   Second: lifeguards are uniformed professionals. Would you expect a cop, firefighter, or paramedic to show up in booty shorts and a tube top (excluding undercover cops, obviously)? No. Because they too are uniformed professional rescuers. Just like you.

   Third: most places will not let male guards wear speedos, bikinis, or jammers while on duty…I don’t know why they would want to, but the question has been asked more than once.

   Fourth: you are a representative of your employer. You are expected to conform to their standards of dress while on duty. That’s just how it is. You are not there to please the eyes of your peers. Chances are children and seniors use your facility, and some people may not approve of guards wearing bikinis. It’s all about making the costumer happy. That’s how money is made.

   There are many 2 piece guard suits that are not bikinis. Check online at sites like kiefer.com, and ask your boss if they would be acceptable alternatives.
